In an attempt to reduce weight and cut emissions, Lambo plans to use a whole lot of carbon-fibre in its construction. The four-wheel drive supercar will have a bespoke carbon composite chassis and a brand new 7.0-litre V12 engine, rumoured to have between 700-720bhp.

The firm wants its 0-62mph time to be close to 3.0sec and 0-100mph should take around 6.0sec and has ruled a DSG transmission because it would be “too complex and too expensive” to engineer.
The new Murcielago itself is expected to be launched at the Geneva motor show in spring 2011.
