Chevrolet Beat electric car was displayed in Bangalore
Beat electric vehicle was displayed in Bangalore on November 14, 2011. It was completely designed by the Indian engineers from its Bangalore tech centre. The Beat electric vehicle (BEV) was its first electric vehicle prototype showcased from the Bangalore tech centre and the company has not unveiled any details about the launch of the electric car for the Indian market.
Beat electric vehicle was showcased to demonstrate the effectiveness of battery vehicle technology in India. The Beat electric vehicle demo car has been fitted with the battery fitted in GM Volt electric car. “They are now part of each and every global project by GM,” Mr. Slym said. There are over 2,000 engineers who work with the tech centre.
“Hence, we need to bring down the cost of the battery which constitutes a large part of the price of the vehicle,” he added. The company has agreed that the electric car will become attractive only when their prices are on par with the other vehicles.

Beat electric vehicle is powered by a 300-cell lithium – ion battery that consists an energy of about 20 kWh and weights 270-kg that can power the vehicle for at least 10 km under normal driving conditions. The 240-V outlet can charge the battery in eight hours.
